I dont know why but I feel that its the CEPT and so we look at it differently. I think that we have an image of CEPT and then its like that it has to be inspiring space. The second and third photos- had it being of some other college, I think we would not have termed it as an inspiring space. But since they are of CEPT, they start becoming an inspiring space.
I might be wrong since I have never visited it. But whatever I have written is seeing these photos and little what I know about CEPT.

you know anuj, when I go back to my images and search for details, mostly they are from Ahemadabad, Chandigarh...and you know, what I find mostly, Attempts to take most beautiful picture...
and I hate myself so much for it, but I do that again...

CEPT is something, which stands as an emblem, its a quality from which you can only degrade yourself...Its a school from where you only start from up...This is so amazing to study in such a building...

I dont have that power in me to think of such a plan, and I regret it so much...but there is time and hope, I'll get freed my own limitations...

Looking at Cept is always a pleasure...Thanks I cannot dare looking at my pics, I've clicked, they only tell me about my ignorance .

aoaua: Identify yourself. Visit CEPT. I wasn't referring to the work (models) put up in the second and third pics. You mis-read the pictures. It was a reference to the huge walls, double height volume and north light - exposed concrete and brick.

Manish: I agree - I tried to do that as a student - taking nice pictures. But later, I constantly tried to capture the essence of space in my pictures - have not been so successful. But at least I have moved away from just being picturesque. Every time I go to CEPT (visited about 5 times now in the last 8 years), there is something new I discover - it is a constantly revealing space. I love its emptiness, its rawness. Everyone would. I am sure.
And yes, how could I forget Chandigarh College of Architecture - I shall post some pics of it here soon!!

Even I am talking about the walls and not the models. The exposed concrete and brickwork. Had it been of other college, we would say that how ugly it is. They haven't painted the walls also. The cement below is killing the exposed brickwork. But now its of CEPT, we start saying that north light- exposed concrete. The north light and its effect comes into picture when it is THE CEPT.
I personally think that every space has its own effect. Talking about AOA, the nitches are awesome on every floor. There is no partition in classes it becomes disturbing. But the plus point is that our college still works for so many years without AC. Its a great thing. Sometimes, while looking at visual aspects of space, we often miss the environmental part of it. A real inspiring space would be one which is visually appealing but also which is concerned about the environment which it creates. Environment which it creates- I am not talking about effects of light, shadows and double volume spaces. Its something away and different from that. Its something related to what is todays need. I am not talking about green buildings also. For me an inspiring would be a design which contains maximum spaces which are visually appealing but at the same time work environmentally.
And also, if a space created is not inspiring, it can always be done by changing its interiors.

i loved my grandmother - only because she was old - her wrinkled skin, the big holes in her ears, the simplicity made me feel her body all the time. I wouldn't like her if any one presented me a young grand mother.

its something like that...

I like it because it is raw, untouched and respected. It's old - 1964 - you have to read it in historical time...

I see a lot of love in the way this building is crafted. There are only some buildings like that...

and what makes you think CEPT is not visually / climatically oriented? Its one of the most phenomenologically (check the word up) aesthetic spaces I have been to.

You can love AOA. Although I would argue for its ground floor layout rather than its studios...that makes a stronger case...

The historical space of AOA has been brutally disrespected only for a cosmopolitan building form...given the challenges of the site, more interesting responses could have been generated...
